Tahoe Resources Inc. (TSX:THO). Base metals. Up 34 cents, or 9.9 per cent to $3.76 on 3.9 million shares traded. The miner restarted its La Arena gold mine in Peru following an agreement to end a protest and begin a formal dialogue to resolve complaints raised by members of the community of La Ramada. Work at the mine had been suspended for eight days starting on Aug. 30 due to protests by an estimated 80 to 100 people from La Ramada.
Hydro One Ltd. (TSX:H). Utilities. Up 32 cents or 1.68 per cent to $19.39 on 671,000 shares traded. The Ontario electricity distributor named former CIBC executive Tom Woods as its permanent chairman after serving in the role on an interim basis since Aug. 14. He was among 10 new directors named as replacements for the company’s previous board, which resigned along with the CEO amid pressure from Ontario’s Progressive Conservative government.
