Vancouver food delivery app ParcelPal gets surge in downloads

Vancouver based technology company ParcelPal Technologies Inc. [CSE:PKG; OTC:PTNYF; FSE:PT0] announced over the weekend that its food delivery app has exceeded 3000 downloads in just over a month.

The ParcelPal app enables customers to place orders from over 100 Vancouver restaurants directly through the app and does not require any further action from customers. Although the service currently only covers the Metro Vancouver area, the Company intends to add more delivery areas throughout the Lower Mainland including: Kitsilano, East Vancouver, Mount Pleasant and North Vancouver as well as other products such as groceries, alcohol and other everyday goods.

In addition to food delivery, the Company also offers on-demand delivery of merchandise from leading retailers, restaurants, medical marijuana dispensaries and liquor stores in Vancouver and soon in major cities Canada-wide.

Online food delivery is a rapidly growing market within the $600 billion restaurant sector. Food delivery apps have been disrupting traditional forms of delivery due to the rise and ease of mobile ordering. The U.S. food delivery market alone accounted for over $210 billion of restaurant revenue in the last year, of which $11-billion was exclusively through on-line ordering. The Canadian online food delivery market is estimated at $7 billion.

Additionally, the Company noted that it has signed a work order contract with Amazon Inc. [NASDAQ:AMZN] for fulfillment services. Further details of this will be announced in the coming weeks.
